The area around Falahill has been one of the most hotly debated during the planning and design stage of the route. The A7 cross at Falahill has seen a number of different designs, with a double roundabout and bridge being proposed. The final design for an angled bridge carrying the A7 over the railway is now complete with landscaping work still ongoing.
One of the busiest areas during construction was the quarry that provided a large amount of stone for construction at Falahill. The quarry is now closed and the large hole created in the hillside is being back-filled.
