Gala weekend at Whitrope

This year’s gala weekend saw two very different days. The Saturday saw torrential rain from about 11:00 until about 17:00. So a big thanks to all who braved the elements and tripped up from the model railway exhibition in Hawick to visit.

A number of members were up and the opportunity was taken to do some track work. A hearty thanks to those involved and I hope your gear has dried out; my boots are just about getting there!

Pete Betts’ wife ran a tombola throughout the weekend in the buffet coach and it was an absolutely marvellous effort, with some great prizes. A big thank you to Mrs Betts!

The Sunday saw a much better day weather wise and a steady flow of visitors. The unit RB004 had a busy day running trips along the line and was in constant action from about dinner time until 16:00.

It was good to see plenty of visitors and we received lots of positive comments, thank you.

Overall it was a successful weekend that was able to show the continued progress of our exciting Borders railway project.
