Recent northern progress

Our man with a camera, the Waverley Route’s very own answer to David Bailey, Geoff Ruderham, has kindly sent us another selection of fine photographs of the latest works taking place along the northern section currently being rebuilt.

  1. Have you looked at the planning application lodged with Scottish Borders Council for the realignment of the A7 at Falahill? You can view the application online by searching for the reference 13/00913/FUL on SBC’s website. I’m no expert, but the tunnel looks too narrow to allow it to be double-tracked in future, which I thought was the intention. I hope I’m wrong, as it seems to show a lack of forward planning.

    • Was/Is it an updated idea to double track at that point? As originally, when they had the double roundabout plan, there was no intention to double now or in the future and the bridge/tunnel was for single track only. Matt
