August works weekend

A fairly quiet August works weekend with a number of regulars away on holiday. Work concentrated at the Golden Bridge end of the railway. The two track panels that were laid out during the July works weekend were clipped up and the railway now runs to the edge of our current lease. Further work was also carried out on the track-work over the Golden Bridge, which hopefully should be connected up at the next works weekend. Whilst the track-work was on-going further runs were undertaken using RB004 to do some more staff familiarisation.
Progress continues on the Fowler with one side of the underframe now looking very smart and the other side progressing. Work also continues on the exhibition coach and buffet which now provide a very pleasant sight for our visitors. During July the foundations for our first full size signal were completed. The foundations were also completed for the bay platform wall. Overall a number of projects are progressing well and the railway is continuing its great progress.
It is our gala weekend this weekend (August 17/18th) and although we are not over the Golden Bridge as hoped there is plenty of progress to see. Please come down and view our progress and have a chat to some of the very enthusiastic volunteers on site.
Work in progress on the final two track panels. The Eskbank fotbridge is visible in the background with work on repairing and preserving it progressing.

  2. Hi great work guys, Are there plans to extend beyond the current lease?.

    • There are plans to extend further south and head towards Riccarton as mentioned, however at the moment Pway attention turns back to the Northern section and the platform. General tasks will focus on the exhibition and visitor facilities.

  3. This is just incredible what has been achieved.
    Well done
