News Flash….Loco Loan

The Waverley Route Heritage Association has been offered the loan of an operational Ruston diesel shunter from the Rutland Railway Museum for use at its heritage centre at Whitrope. The hope is to move the loco north in time for our Open Weekend on 16th/ 17th July, and put on demonstration shunting displays using the LMS coal wagon. Another idea we’re working on is to offer “Driver for a Fiver” footplate experience turns, giving enthusiasts and visitors a chance to drive a train on the re-born Waverley Route.

The Association needs to raise the funds to cover the cost of transportation, roughly about £1,400, and the good news is that half the total has been pledged so far. If you would be prepared to assist, either through a donation or interest- free loan, please contact us on info@wrha.org.uk as soon as possible. Basically, the loco will be moved just as soon as we can afford to do so!
