Overbridge 41 Demolished

Way back in Journal 14 we described the construction of a temporary access road at Cowbraehill, approximately 5 miles south of Gorebridge. This work was to allow for the demolition of overbridge 41, which was in poor condition and would require eventual replacement under the Edinburgh to Tweedbank reinstatement project.

The demolition work, carried out by Scottish Borders Council, has now been completed as the photos below show. This is another piece of the preparatory work being undertaken in advance of the main design/ build/ finance/ maintain contract being let. The masonry will eventually be reused in repair works to other structures on the route.
